GREENWICH, Connecticut (CelebrityAccess) – Next year’s Greenwich Town Party will have a very special guest with headliner Eric Clapton. Though not an official Greenwich city function, Greenwich Town Party is a major family friendly all-day event that also includes local music acts. Sponsors help keep ticket prices down so families are looking forward to having a great day May 26th.
According to the local Greenwich Time, Greenwich Town Party is a non-profit organization with lots of volunteer support. The event also benefits from donations and sponsorships with sponsors providing up to 80 percent of costs.
Greenwich Town Party has featured such acts as Dave Matthews, Carlos Santana and James Taylor. In a bittersweet note, Steely Dan’s last public performance occurred at the festival before the passing of Walter Becker.
Local resident and co-founder Ray Dalio is stoked about the appearance of Eric Clapton and says, “‘Eric Clapton is God’ has been a common expression since I started following Clapton nearly 50 years ago…Greenwich residents will get to hear why at this Town Party which will be the best ever.”
Co-president Ray Rivers agrees stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Eric Clapton to Greenwich. He is arguably the greatest living guitarist in the world and a rock legend whose music transcends generations. Everyone has a favorite Clapton song.”
In addition to the excitement of Eric Clapton and further acts to be announced, local bands get to audition to appear on the Town Stage.
Plus, local restaurants and food trucks will be keeping attendees fed while family-oriented activities will help with the boisterous young ones fueled by the guitar king.
