Area2, the festival spearheaded by Moby last year in the form of Area: One, returns with a lineup that features David Bowie, Moby, Busta Rhymes, Carl Cox, John Digweed, DJ Tiesto, The Avalanches, DJ Dan, DJ Tim Skinner and many others. The festival will kick off in Washington, DC, on July 28, and will visit 12 cities throughout the summer. This year's festival is presented by MTV2 and sponsored by Elements Beverages.
In 2001, the Area: One Festival quickly became the eclectic hit of the summer concert tour circuit and was awarded the Dancestar Award for "2001 Tour of the Year." Inspired and led by Moby, last year's Festival featured a diverse mix of handpicked artists including Outkast, The Roots, Nelly Furtado, Incubus, New Order, Paul Oakenfold, Carl Cox, Rinocerose, The Orb, Detroit Innovators (Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, Juan Atkins) and Timo Maas.

Area2 is a joint venture produced by Moby, his American managers Marci Weber and Barry Taylor, and is presented by Clear Channel.

Paul McCartney is thinking about continuing his our. "We're starting to talk about that now," he told the New York Post. "I was hanging out with the guys in the band yesterday, and we were saying we don't want it to end just yet."
Police: No Injuries in Creed Wreck
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — No injuries were reported in a car accident that Creed frontman Scott Stapp cited as the reason for the rock band's cancellation of part of its tour, according to a police report released Tuesday.
The multiplatinum group announced Monday it was canceling the second leg of its North American tour so Stapp could recover from injuries he suffered during the accident.
But a report prepared by Orlando police officer Lori Fiorino after the April 19 accident said, "No injuries noted."
Creed spokesman Steve Karas on Tuesday refused to say what Stapp's injuries were.
"Scott is not up for doing this tour," Karas told The Associated Press. "Scott got banged up and he can't do the tour. That's the story."
According to the accident report, Stapp was driving in Orlando when his sport utility vehicle was rear-ended by an SUV driven by Suzanne Covey Swisher, 53, of St. Petersburg, as traffic slowed. Swisher, who was cited for following a vehicle too closely, didn't return a telephone call to her home.
The 20-city Weathered tour was scheduled to begin Monday night in Fargo., N.D., and run through May 31. No makeup dates have been scheduled, but the Orlando-based band is expected to resume touring this summer, Karas said.
Creed's latest disc, "Weathered," has sold almost five million copies since its release last November.
Budweiser To Present Marc Anthony's Summer Tour
Budweiser has signed on as the presenting sponsor of Marc Anthony's upcoming 33-city, 34-date summer tour in the US and Puerto Rico. The Clear Channel Entertainment-produced tour begins July 6 in Boston.
Anthony will be featured in new television and radio advertising for Budweiser. There will also be point-of-sale materials and promotional products supporting his
tour. Budweiser's first commercial starring Anthony, "Recording Studio," is scheduled to debut in June.
As presenting sponsor and exclusive alcohol sponsor, Budweiser will have signage featured at all concerts and will be featured on all tickets sold in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Budweiser will also conduct club promotions in tour markets giving consumers the opportunity to win concert tickets and other tour merchandise.

Phyllis Diller's final public concert will be May 5 as part of a three-day engagement (May 3-5) at The Sun Coast Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. However, according to her manager, Milton B. Suchin, the comedian "is not retiring and will continue to do motion pictures, television, voice overs and other ventures. Her 'Drew Carey' [show] appearance will air on May 8 on ABC."
No Doubt Postpones Dates, Warns Fans Of Fake Backstage Passes
No Doubt has postponed it concert dates in Pittsburgh and Cleveland because singer Gwen Stefani is "really sick." On the group's official website, she explained: "I've been really sick for about two weeks and still playing the shows so I haven't been able to get better. I have been forced to take a few days off to recover so we can hopefully do the rest of the US tour. I am doing everything I can to get
better and hopefully I will be back to normal, booger free, and ready for you to rock me again soon."
In other news, the band is warning their fans to be on the lookout for fake backstage passes that are being sold in their tour markets before the band gets to town. A copy of the pass is posted on their website. "If you come across one of these, don't be fooled by it," the post says.
"We apologize to anyone that has been defrauded by these people and just want to warn everyone else."
