LONDON (AP) — Police say a member of British sea-shanty singing group Fisherman's Friends has died of injuries received in an accident at a concert venue.
Surrey Police said Tuesday that 54-year-old Trevor Grills died late Monday in a London hospital.
Grills received serious head injuries, and tour manager Paul McMullen was killed, when both men were trapped underneath a metal door at the loading bay of a venue in Guildford, 35 miles (55 kilometers) southwest of London, on Saturday.
Fisherman's Friends said in a statement that the band members were devastated by the loss of "a much-loved and valued friend."
The 10-piece band from Cornwall in southwestern England was discovered singing traditional songs in a local pub. They became unlikely stars, signing a lucrative recording contract and releasing a top-10 album.
