Loretta Lynn has been approved by the University of Kentucky's board of trustees to receive an honorary doctorate in arts.
The 66-year-old country singer, a native of Johnson County, Kentucky, will receive the honor at a ceremony during the Society for American Music's 28th annual meeting March 6-10 on the university's Lexington campus.
