BEIJING, China (CelebrityAccess) — Justin Bieber has been blocked from entering China over his history of "bad behavior."
According to the Washington Post, Beijing's culture bureau issued a statement that the performer would be unwelcome in the Asian nation.
“Justin Bieber is a gifted singer, but he is also a controversial young foreign singer,” the statement said. “As far as we are concerned, he has engaged in a series of bad behaviors, both in his social life and during a previous performance in China, which caused discontent among the public.”
The bureau said that their decision was based on the singer's "on and offstage antics" and noted that Bieber had been arrested on several occasions in the past, but did not specify which of Bieber's past (and admittedly numerous) misdeeds caused them to block his entry.
The bureau also said that it hoped to "purify" performing arts in China.
Bieber joins the ranks of artists that have been blocked from China including Maroon 5, and Oasis.
