AUSTIN, TX (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Prominent Austin nightclub Emo's has been sold to promoter C3 Presents, effective immediately.
According to the Austin Chronicle, Emo's former owner Frank Hendrix confirmed that he has sold the club to C3 after 10 weeks of negotiation.
“It made sense for C3 to have it,” Hendrix told the Chronicle. “I wanted Charles Attal to have it.”
“We’re doing so many shows at Emo’s already that when Frank approached us, for us it was just natural,” Attal told the Chronicle. “This is what we do for a living.”
The deal includes the club, but not the building, though the current lease is good for more than a decade. Additionally, Hendrix will be moving his other club Antone's to Emo's former satellite venue, the Beauty Ballroom, which is also on the same block and owned by the same landlord.
Hendrix confirmed to the Chronicle that C3 would continue to assist in booking shows at Antone's.
Emo's first launched as a punk rock club in Houston in 1989 with the Austin outlet opening in 1992. The Houston location closed in 2001. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
