Britney Spears Puts Vegas Residency On Hold Indefinitely, Citing Father’s Health

LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) Britney Spears has just announced she is putting her upcoming Las Vegas residency on indefinite hold, saying she is going to “devote all of her time to her family and their efforts to care for her father during his recover from a life-threatening illness.”

Her father, Jamie Spears, became seriously ill two months ago when his colon ruptured and he was rushed to a Vegas hospital.

“A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died,” Spears said. “We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time. I hope you all can understand.”

She added, “I will not be performing my new show Domination.”

The second concert residency by Spears was expected to debut Feb. 13 at Park Theater in the Park MGM hotel and casino. The show had 32 shows planned through Aug. 17.
