ORLANDO, Fla. (CelebrityAccess) Elton John, on doctors’ orders, postponed last night’s show about a half hour after he was to take the stage at Orlando, Fla.’s Amway Center.
John’s performance was abruptly canceled because of an ear infection, according to spokeswoman Fran Curtis, and tonight’s show at Tampa’s Amalie Arena is also postponed.
Taken 5 minutes apart. Elton John’s #FarewellYellowBrickRoad show cancelled. We were all sitting and waiting for 1/2 hour. As someone who also went home from work early sick, I hope he feels better, but dang. pic.twitter.com/NANHz3GhRi

A rumor that the performance was canceled because of a credible bomb threat was quickly quelled.
“Any speculation or claims of a bomb threat are false and completely unfounded,” City of Orlando Marketing Manager Tanya Bowley told USA TODAY. “Tonight’s cancellation was indeed due to Elton John’s ear infection as previously shared from the outset.”
“Elton has been on a course of antibiotics to combat an ear infection and it was expected that these would clear the infection in time to play the Orlando show,” tour organizers said. “Elton had (traveled) to the venue but after further consultation with doctors before he took the stage, the decision had to be taken on their advice that unfortuantely (sic) he still wasn’t well enough to perform.”
