(CelebrityAccess) – Facebook has named 10-year vet Adam Mosseri as the head of Instagram.
According to The Associated Press, Mosseri’s appointment comes a mere week after the photo-sharing app’s co-founders, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, resigned without a clear explanation.
Systrom and Krieger themselves announced Mosseri’s appointment in a blog post on Instagram’s website Monday (Oct. 1).
Mosseri, 35, was named as Instagram’s head of product in May, and was largely expected to get the job, reports AP. He began as a designer at Facebook and most recently led the company’s news feed.
Instagram, which was founded in 2010, was sold to Facebook for $1 billion in 2012. At the time, it was Facebook’s first billion-dollar purchase.
