MANILA, Philippines (CelebrityAccess) — Universal Music Group Philippines, a division of Universal Music Group (UMG), announced the re-launch of the EMI Records Philippines brand.
The relaunched label will provide local support for homegrown Filipino talent with an eye towards helping them reach international audiences.
First launched in 2002, EMI Records in the Philippines helped to platform artists such as Sandwich, Sugarfree, Hale, The Dawn, Kyla, Lea Salonga, and Bamboo.
“EMI has long been recognized as one of the most iconic record labels in the world. EMI Records Philippines will honor this legacy in its determination to nurture and grow the incredible local talent and showcase it to audiences across the Philippines and beyond,” stated Enzo Valdez, Managing Director, Universal Music Philippines.
At launch, the label’s roster includes Tim Dionela, and Daniel Paringit; the pop-punk group CHNDTR; the alt-pop band Gracenote and the veteran Filipino rock band Hale.
The label’s roster will also include a host of rising stars, including Voice Kids winners Elha Nympha, Cydel Gabutero, and Shane Bernabe; along with up-and-coming artsts such as Miss Ramonne, Gabriel Tagadtad, Dave Trinidad, Jenzen Guino, Patrick Quiroz, and Waltz.
