LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Rapper A$AP Rocky has reportedly entered a not-guilty plea as he faces trial on two felony charges of assault with a firearm.
The 35-year-old rapper, who was born Rakim Mayers, was charged in August with pointing a semiautomatic at Terell Ephron (formerly known as A$AP Relli) during a dispute and firing multiple rounds during a dispute outside during a dispute outside of a Hollywood hotel in November 2021.
A preliminary hearing in November 2023 suggested that the state has a strong case, including witness testimony and video surveillance of the alleged incident.
If convicted, Mayers could face up to 24 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
Mayers’ attorney, Joe Tacopina told Rolling Stone that his client is confident of vindication and “eager” to resolve the case so he can focus on spending time with his family.
Mayers is married to fellow singer and musician Rihanna with whom he has two young children.
