NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess) — Country music icon Carrie Underwood topped the 2020 CMT Music Awards, taking home the most trophies, including wins for Video of The Year” and “Female Video of the Year” for the second consecutive year.
The wins on Wednesday night helped to cement Underwood’s position as the most lauded artist in the history of the awards show with an impressive 22 career wins.
Country music newcomer Gabby Barrett took home her first CMT Award after winning “Breakthrough Video of the Year,” for the video of her hit “I Hope” while Chris Young earned his first CMT for “CMT Performance of the Year.”
Luke Byran “Male Video of the Year” for “One Margarita” and Old Dominion was recognized for “Group Video of the Year” for “One Man Band.”
Hosted by Ashley McBryde, Kane Brown and Sarah Hyland, the awards show featured performances from Ashley McBryde, Dan + Shay, Gabby Barrett, Jimmie Allen + Noah Cyrus, Kelsea Ballerini + Halsey, Little Big Town, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs + Brooks & Dunn, Maren Morris, Morgan Wallen, Sam Hunt and Shania Twain.
Breakout stars Caylee Hammack, HARDY, Ingrid Andress, Mickey Guyton, Riley Green and Travis Denning also made their awards show debut on the Ram Trucks Side Stage.
