ORLANDO, FL (CelebrityAccess) — Singer Ariana Grande has postponed a pair of shows on her “Sweetener World Tour” after she was stricken with an allergic reaction.
Grande, who is 25, revealed the news in an Instagram post, writing: “I woke up incredibly sick today, ran to my doctor here and have been told to postpone these shows tonight and tomorrow. I’m so beyond devastated. I will make this up to you, I promise. Please forgive me. I love you and I will be back and better than ever as soon as possible. Love you.”
Affected shows include May 28 at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, and Thursday, May 29 at the Amway Center in Orlando. Both shows have already been rescheduled to November 24th and 25th, respectively.
Grande posted a followup, noting that she had suffered from an allergic reaction to tomatoes.
“Update: we discovered ….. that ….. I had an unfortunate allergic reaction to tomatoes and my throat pretty much closed. still feels like I’m swallowing a cactus but slowly making progress! thank u all for your love and understanding. can’t wait to get back to performing and to make it up to Tampa and Orlando in November. p.s. there is NOTHING MORE UNFAIR THAN AN ITALIAN WOMAN DEVELOPING AN ALLERGY TO TOMATOES IN HER MID TWENTIES…….”
Tour promoter Live Nation confirmed the postponed dates with a social media post of their own, tweeting “Ariana is sorry to disappoint her fans and will look fwd to seeing them in November.” They added that tickets will be valid for the makeup dates or refundable at the point of purchase.
Grande is next scheduled to take the stage on May 31st at American Airlines Arena in Miami.
