LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek shared some upbeat news, stating that his doctors say he is in “near remission” in his battle with cancer.
The 78-year-old game show host told People magazine that doctors described his response to his cancer treatments as “kind of mind-boggling” and told him that “they hadn’t seen this kind of positive results in their memory.”
Trebek told People that he still faces several more rounds of treatment but hopes to be in full remission at their conclusion.
Trebek revealed in March that he had been diagnosed with stage-4 pancreatic cancer, which is typically grave news. The American Cancer Society estimates that just 3% of patients with stage 4 pancreatic cancer survive for more than 5 years after their diagnosis.
Despite the grim diagnosis, Trebek, in March, said he plans to fight to recover and continue working as the host of the long-running game show “Jeopardy.”
