Many had pitched tents in violation of park rules, with some having to be forced to break down their camps, according to ABC. Organizers said the turnout could only be compared with that for Backstreet Boys and Beyonce when they played the popular ABC television segment.
“There’s actually a line commander that’s in charge,” Summer Stage GM Larry Siegel told ABC-13. “They’re very organized, which is surprising, but it works.”
The tickets were free and sold out. The crowd was so loud at times that the band could not be heard, according to ABC.
All other concerts will be free and open to the public and will take place on Fridays starting at 7 a.m. EDT.
