LONDON (CelebrityAccess) Former WCW wrestler Silver King, while playing his traditional role as villain, died in the ring while performing at the Roundhouse in London last night from an apparent heart attack.
King, who starred in the 2006 comedy “Nacho Libre” with Jack Black, collapsed and died apparently from a kick that may have triggered the coronary, according to TMZ.
King gets knocked down three times and appears at times to be groggy, but he apparently was meant to win the match because the referee refused to count him out. His opponent, Juventud Guerrera, pretends to pin the unconscious King to the mat then celebrates as the referee removes King’s mask and realizes something terrible has happened. The two were wrestling for the Lucha Libre World promotion’s “The Greatest Show of Lucha Libre.
“King hit Juventud with a flying clothesline during the match then went for a cover,” said Wrestling Observer Figure Four. “Juventud kicked out, but it appeared after this that King was struggling to move. Juventud kicked Silver King in the collarbone then went for a cover, but King was unresponsive as Guerrera tried to roll him over. The referee, Black Terry, paused before he hit his hand the third time, but eventually did make the three count, ending the match.
“According to those in the arena, the rest of the show was canceled.”
The 51-year-old wrestler was born Cesar Barron and was performing as Ramses, the character he played in “Nacho Libre.”
“WWE extends its deepest condolences to Silver King’s family, friends and fans.”
“Go with God,” Jack Black said in Spanish on a social media post.
