LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) Developer Lorenzo Doumani has been given the OK by Clark County commissioners to build a 45-story, 720-room hotel near the north Las Vegas Strip.
The project, Majestic Las Vegas, is expected to cost $850 million, Doumani told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The casino-hotel comes more than four years after Doumani, owner of Majestic Resorts, imploded the Clarion.
The six-acre project is expected to feature restaurants, 10 floors of convention and meeting space and a “wellness medical spa” that would offer “executive physicals,” according to the paper. Doumani expects to break ground in early 2020 and finish the project in early 2023.
Commissioners, in hopes of reviving a sluggish north Strip as new megaresorts are rising in the area, voted 6-0 for the new resort, according to the Review-Journal.
The Clarion, which debuted in 1970, had an interesting history and many names, including The Debbie Reynolds because it was once owned by the late actress and went bankrupt under her watch. It was bought in 1998 by the World Wrestling Federation, which planned to demolish it and build a 35-story wrestling-themed casino but instead sold it in 2000.
