AUSTRALIA (CelebrityAccess) – Michael Gudinski’s Mushroom Group has partnered with music rights and royalties expert Susan Cotchin and her company International Royalties Rescue (IRR), to launch a new neighboring rights company called Good Neighbour.
Under the terms of the new agreement, Mushroom Group will reportedly acquire IRR for an undisclosed sum, with Cotchin guiding the new venture as managing director.
“We are always looking for new opportunities to grow and develop the Mushroom Group’s network of companies,” said Gudinski in a statement. “Neighboring rights is an intricate area of royalty collection that we’ve wanted to move into and naturally complements our other businesses. We recognized it was important to have the specialist knowledge and experience required to service our clients properly, he added, calling Cotchin’s expertise and understanding of neighboring rights “second to none.”
“When I was approached by The Mushroom Group and witnessed their professionalism and ongoing determination to manage neighboring rights correctly, it made my decision to join forces an easy and obvious one,” added Cotchin in the statement.
“We launch Good Neighbour not as a start-up but as a leader in neighboring rights from day one,” she continued. “The result of our combined interests and connections will enable us to extend our reach to more performers, without diluting the personal service we are famous for. We make a formidable team.”
Also joining the Good Neighbour team is Zoe Coverdale, who brings with her 12 years of experience managing Mushroom Music’s international department. Coverdale will serve as business development manager for Good Neighbour and will work alongside Cotchin.
