INDIO, Calif. (CelebrityAccess) Christine and the Queens, which made a splash with their first-weekend performance at Coachella in Indio, Calif., will not be making their return for this weekend’s version of the desert festival because of the death of the mother of frontwoman Héloïse Letissier.
Letissier has already returned to her native France after learning of her mother’s passing Tuesday evening. The band was scheduled to perform Saturday, as well as later tonight at the Santa Barbara Bowl with Blood Orange.
“I can only write very simple sentences,” Letissier tweeted, in French. “I lost my mother on Tuesday night. I came home to go through this ordeal with my loved ones-I won’t be able to sing this Saturday. I kiss you.”
Je n’arrive qu’à écrire des phrases très simples. J’ai perdu ma mère dans la nuit de mardi. Je suis rentrée pour traverser cette épreuve avec mes proches – je ne pourrai pas chanter ce samedi. Je vous embrasse.
