NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Former sports radio personality Craig Carton has been sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison for his involvement with a ticket resale scam.
Carton was convicted of conspiracy, wire fraud and securities fraud in November for his role in defrauding investors as part of a ticket resale business.
Prosecutors said Carton used misappropriated almost $7 million from investors to repay personal expenses, including millions in gambling debts.
Carton’s co-conspirators in the case, Michael Wright and Joseph Meli, also received prison sentences in the case, with Wright sentenced to nearly 2 years in prison and Meli more than 6 years.
The sentence marks a nadir for Carton, who spent a decade as the co-host of “Boomer and Carton” on Sports Radio WFAN with former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason.
Carton left the show after his arrest in 2017, maintaining his innocence at the time.
