Report: Rising Country Star Justin Carter Killed By Prop Gun

HOUSTON, TX (CelebrityAccess) — Rising country artist Justin Carter has reportedly died after a prop gun discharged in his apartment.

A post on Carter’s Instagram confirmed his passing, stating: “Please Keep Justin’s Family In Your Prayers & Give Them Privacy In This Hard Time. Justin Is No Longer With Us, He Has Passed Away.”

According to ABC11 in Houston, Mark Atherton with Triple Threat Management said that Carter was killed by a prop gun that was to be used in a music video shoot.

Carter’s mother, Cindy McClellan, told Fox News that Carter had the un in his pocket when it went off, striking him in the eye.

The 35-year-old musician had recently signed with Triple Threat and had just released a new single “Love Affair” featuring the Florida-based rapper Nu Breed.

Mark Atherton, of Triple Threat, told KTRK, “Justin had a potential to, you know, in our eyes, and a lot of people’s eyes to be the next Garth Brooks.”

According to Carter’s Facebook page, he was a “Texas born and Texas-raised country boy to his core. His passion and drive stem from being influenced by some of the greats since he was just a child. He grew up listening to Waylon, Hank, George, and Jones. Some of his favorites are Clay Walker, Garth Brooks, and George Strait. Justin’s passion is derived from the sound of old country, and he clings to that feeling he gets when he hears it and tries to push that into his music. Times are changing and so are the generations taste in music, but Justin tries to keep a happy medium between both old and new to satisfy everyone.”
