TORONTO (CelebrityAccess) — In what was describes as a nod to the hometown hero, the Toronto Raptors have renamed their training facility as the OVO Athletic Centre, a reference to the team’s partnership with Drake.
For those of you who arent’ up on the latest Drake news, OVO is an OVO, an acronym for “October’s Very Own,” Drake’s record label and fashion line.
According to the CBC, the rename includes both interior and exterior signage, as well as new practice jerseys that feature Drake’s OVO owl logo emblazoned on them.
The training facility was previously known as the BioSteel Centre before it was recast as the Toronto Raptors Training Centre.
“Drake and OVO are an important part of our city’s landscape, our team’s identity, and our plans to bring a championship to Toronto,” Raptors president Masai Ujiri said in a statement. “With each step of our partnership over the last five and a half years, we have worked together to build a winning basketball program in Toronto and deliver for our fans and our community.
“This new naming rights deal for our training facility is a perfect example of the strength of this partnership and the innovative opportunities it can generate.”
Drake has served as the “global ambassador” for the Raptors since he was formally hired by the organization and Tim Lieweke in 2013 and has a seat on the team’s executive committee.
