BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (CelebrityAccess) John Mayer keeps getting visitors – first, it was everyone from Dave Chappelle to Halsey, when Mayer put together his own version of the Vanity Fair after-party for the Grammys, and now it’s Joni Mitchell.
Mayer was, apparently, in the middle of recording at the studio when Mitchell dropped by for a glass of wine, and the guitarist/singer got a chance to snap one with one of his idols.
“A day I’ll never forget: the legendary Joni Mitchell came by the studio to say hello to a room she made many of her cherished records in,” Mayer said on Instagram. “It’s now the room I call home, and her presence only made me want to try harder to find those big, deep, beautiful songs like she always has. ♥️”
Mitchell appears to be making more appearances, either in public or through social media, since her brain aneurysm in 2015 that curbed her ability to walk, and she has not spoken in public. She appeared, in a wheelchair, at a two-night gala for her 75th birthday at LA’s Music Center this past November and at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammys party at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. John Mayer shared the moment:
Mayer himself has had plenty of visitors lately, especially since he converted his house into a mirror of the Vanity Fair Grammy party.
Mayer said that he may or may not have gotten an invite to the actual party, saying, “People don’t even pass invites to me because I don’t go most places.”
Instead, he created his own party at home, with a Vanity Fair carpet and Vanity Fair plates. He dubbed it “How to be Seen at The @vanityfair Party Without Ever Having to Leave the House and Risking Emotional Vulnerability.”
Dave Chapelle, Halsey, Diplo and Bob Saget made the event, with photographer Bobby Quillard on hand. Halsey jammed with Mayer on stage.
