CALIFORNIA (CelebrityAccess) – Facebook has announced new licensing partnerships with leading music labels in India and Thailand to bring music to Facebook videos, messages, stories, Lip Sync Live and other creative content on Facebook, Instagram and Oculus VR.
The new deals bring Facebook’s licensing tally up to 40 countries worldwide.
In India, Facebook’s agreements include labels T-Series Music, Zee Music Company and Yash Raj Films. In Thailand, deals are with labels GMM Grammy and RS.
The India deal is of particular significance to the social media giant as the time Indian users spend on video streaming apps has reportedly grown by 185% over the past two years. It also arrives on the heels of streaming services like Spotify and YouTube Music’s recent launches in the region.
In a blog published by Facebook March 13, the company also announced a new feature that enables users to tap on a song and click directly through to the artist’s Spotify. Facebook is reportedly planning to add additional streaming partners to the list in the near future.
