CUCUTA, Colombia (CelebrityAccess) Richard Branson’s Live Aid Venezuela concert included, among its many stars, an appearance by Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido, who made a surprise appearance at the end of the star-studded event on Friday, defying orders banning him from leaving Venezuela.
It’s not clear how Guaido sneaked into Colombia, according to the Associated Press. The Friday concert, which preceded a weekend of unrest and violence, took place on the border town of Cucuta and was expected to raise millions of dollars for aid to Venezuela, which has seen a terrible downfall that many attribute to the socialist state of leader Nicolas Maduro. Maduro’s government held a rival, three-day “Hands Off Venezuela” festival across the border from Cucuta as millions attempted to flee the country.
Guaido, who the US and others have recognized as the official leader of Venezuela, was seen in a video on social media running across a bridge near the Colombian town of Puerto Santander in a likely attempt to reach the festival while in another video he could be seen boarding a helicopter beloinging to the Colombian air force, according to the AP.
Either way, once he reached the stage he was greeted as a rock star.
