LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Ariana Grande has reportedly pulled out of her planned performance at the Grammys after a disagreement with the show’s producers.
According to a report in Variety, an insider close to Grande said the Dangerous Woman singer felt “insulted” after producers initially refused to allow her to perform “7 Rings,” her latest single from her forthcoming album “Thank U, Next” which is due out on Friday.
Hits reported that producers reached a compromise with Grande, allowing her to perform “7 Rings” if they got to pick the second song, but Grande backed away from the awards show entirely as other performers were not constrained by those requirements.
Grande, who is up for several Grammys this year, including Best Pop Vocal Performance (for “God Is a Woman”) and Best Pop Vocal Album (for 2018’s “Sweetener”) and has been featured prominently in the awards show’s advertising for 2019.
The decision to quibble over “7 Rings” is surprising as the track just about broke the internet and broke records on Spotify after being streamed almost 15 million times in 24 hours after it debuted.
Reps for the Grammys did not immediately respond to Variety‘s requests for comment, the publication said.
