MILWAUKEE (CelebrityAccess) The Milwaukee Brewers Miller Park ballpark is expected to have a new name in 2021 because of a 15-year naming rights deal with American Family Insurance.
The Brewers’ venue has been known as Miller Park since it opened in 2001 when the brewing company paid $40 million for naming rights over 20 years, but the team sought possible new suitors last year as the deal drew to a close.
Jack Salzwedel, CEO of AMerican Family Insurance, said no decision has been made on the new moniker.
“That, to me, is kind of secondary. We will get to that point, and we’ve got time to actually make that happen. It will be probably a year before we need to start thinking about what those signs actually look like and how they will be positioned in the stadium,” Salzwedel said. “This deal was inked pretty quickly. When you’re looking at naming rights, there’s a ton of data that we need to look at. We don’t take naming rights real lightly. We’re going to pull a lot of data, look at customer input. There are a lot of things we’ll look at.”
Meanwhile, 30,000 fans have signed a petition to keep Miller on the name of the stadium.
