LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) – Lorna Doom, bassist for seminal Los Angeles punk band the Germs, has passed away.
Drummer Don Bolles confirmed her death in a Facebook post the merely read “Lorna.” He later commented, “She left this mortal coil today around 1.”
Born Teresa Ryan, Doom joined the Germs, whose classic lineup also included Bolles, singer Darby Crash and Pat Smear (later of Nirvana and currently of the Foo Fighters), in 1976. The group went on to release its highly influential album, (GI) a few years later in 1979. Produced by Joan Jett, the album is still regarded as seminal punk recording and one of the best of the era.
While it is still unclear what the cause of death was, Doom was 50 years-of-age at the time of her passing.
