LONDON (CelebrityAccess) British actress Dame June Whgitfield, 93, known mostly for her role in the BBC sitcom “Absolutely Fabulous,” died “peacefully” Friday evening, according to her agent.
Whitfield had a career spanning 60 years, starring in the BBC sitcom “Terry and June” and appeared in the “Carry On,” but was mainly known for her role on the “Absolutely Fabulous” sitcom where she portrayed the mother of main character Edina Monsoon, played by Jennifer Saunders.
Whitfield was made a dame at the age of 92 by Britain’s Prince Charles. His mother, Queen Elizabeth II, once did an impression of Whitfield, mimicking her voice from the 1953 radio comedy “Take It From Here.”
