LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) Tim Commerford, bassist for Rage Against The Machine, put out a statement on Friday that simply announced his divorce – not exactly a common occurrence – and it appears now why there would be such an unusual release, with Commerford claiming his wife drove a car through a garage to assault him, then filing a restraining order.

Commerford accuses his wife, Aleece Dimas, of showing up “uninvited and unannounced” to a home he was crashing at, according to documents obtained by The Blast. She then allegedly gained access to a Porsche outside and rammed the garage door to gain access. Commerford claims his wife, screaming, got inside and “viciously assaulted” him with her iPhone and fists, causing injury. A photo of a bloodied Commerford, obtained by The Blast, was provided in the document.

Commerford said Aleece then attacked the person who owned the residence, then fled the scene when police arrived. He claims she was later arrested at home.

The Blast announced the divorce on Tuesday, initiated by Aleece, three days before the following statement was released:

“After 17 years of marriage to Aleece Dimas, I am saddened to announce our divorce. This decision was made after much careful thought and consideration. I want to send my deepest appreciation to my family and friends who have supported us through these changes. We remain committed and loving parents to our two boys. Our family asks in advance for your kindness and sensitivity at this difficult time.”

Commerford has reportedly requested a restraining order that Aleece must keep 100 yards away from him and any venue where his band is booked or rehearsing at.

Commerford, by the way, is the person who climbed a scalfolding at the MTV Music Awards nearly 20 years ago, distracting the audience from a win by Limp Bizkit.
