LONDON (CelebrityAccess) Elton John and partner David Furnish have settled a libel case involving their dog.
News Group Newspapers, which owns the UK’s Sun, ran a story in February that the dog, during a play date, severely injured a child, using Sun-like prose like “Freddy Krueger-like injuries” to describe the scene.
The couple accepted an apology from the newsgroup and undisclosed libel damages at London’s High Court. Neither were present.
Attorney Jenny Alfia said the couple was innocent and NGN was responsible for “significant damages as well as to reimburse their legal costs,” according to the Associated Press.
NGN’s solicitor, Jeffrey Smele, says, the company “is pleased that the matter has been amicably resolved.”
