LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) Robin Leach, television host of “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” and celebrity columnist, died peacefully in the very early hours of Friday, Aug. 24.

Leach, born in London in 1941, always had a dream to be a journalist and began working for the Harrow Observer 15 and became the youngest Page One editor at the Daily Mail at age 18. He moved to New York days before the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963 and wrote for the New York Daily News, Ladies Home Journal and People authoring its first 11 cover stories.

He broke into television in 1980 with CNN’s “People Tonight,” then on “Entertainment Tonight,” but he became famous for hosting the syndicated show “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” with his signature sign-off “Champagne wishes and caviar dreams.”

He moved to Las Vegas in 1999 and spent the last two decades covering events for the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Las Vegas Sun.
