(CelebrityAccess) Jose Carreras, 71, one of the legendary Three Tenors, is calling it quits next year, saying farewell with a series of performances.
The “Farewell to Music” world tour will celebrate the singer’s 60-year career but is apparently still in the works, with agent Denis Vaughan apparently still accepting offers, according to IQ magazine.
Carreras began his career at age 11 onstage in Barcelona, playing Trujaman in Manuel de Falla’s “El retablo de Maese Pedro,” and has so far performed 60 operas and has more than 160 recordings to his name. He was diagnosed with leukemia in 1987 and recovered in 1988 and has worked with and donated to the organization he then founded, the Jose Carreras Leukemia Foundation.
Alongside Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavaroitti, Carreras toured the world as part of The Three Tenors from 1990 to 2003.
