LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (CelebrityAccess) RiverFest in Little Rock, Ark., had a low turnout – less than the anticipated crowd of 10,000 and director Jack Daniels says the company may need to reconsider the event.

It was not what we expected,” Daniels told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. “We’re really grateful for the folks that did come out.”

Daniels said the event came close to hitting the mark but “for us to really continue to have [RiverFest], we need more engagement from the community.”

He added that he was “extremely pleased” with the Saturday May 26 lineup of Young Thug, Kip Moore, ANY, and Highly Suspect. Peter Frampton headlined the next night.

Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola said in a statement that while organizers dealt with a “very short amount of time to prepare,” he understood “the importance of not letting a year pass since the announcement that Riverfest would be closing.”

“As a first effort under new management, I think it was a success and gives plenty of room to grow relative to attendance,” Stodola said, according to the newspaper.

The three-day fest was established in Little Rock in 1977.
