COLOGNE, Germany (CelebrityAccess) — German soccer club FC Köln announced that they have renewed their long-term naming rights partnership with German

The deal will see the energy company keep its moniker on the team’s home pitch, Rheinenergiestadion, until the conclusion of the 2023/2024 season.

In addition, RheinEnergie will continue to partner with the football club over FC U21 tem, the Kids-Club, and the training ground at Geissbockheim.

While the financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, the German sporting news site Sponsors reported that the deal was worth $3.6 million a year for the extended agreement. The team is reportedly in negotiations for a new stadium after 2024.

Rheinenergie has been a naming rights sponsor at the stadium since 2002.

“Our work together with RheinEnergie works in both good and bad times. As a locally established company, RheinEnergie is an important partner for us. It is a good signal that we were able to extend on a long-term basis. Part of the deal also means the South Stand will be renamed to honor Hans Schäfer. As the kit sponsor of the U21 team and partner of the RheinEnergieSportpark at Geissbockheim, RheinEnergie will remain closely knit with our academy work,” said FC Köln’s president Werner Spinner.

The stadium seats 41,825 fans, with standing room for an additional 8,175.
