MUSCAT, Oman (CelebrityAccess) — A statement from Swedish DJ/Producer Tim ”Avicii” Bergling suggests that the performer may have committed suicide.
Bergling, 28, was reported to have been found dead in Oman last Saturday, with local police reporting that there was ”no criminal suspicion” in his death.
At the time, his family confirmed his passing and requested privacy, but they have since released a second statement that appears to offer some strong hints about suicide.
In an open letter released by Bergling’s parents Anki Lidén and Klas Bergling via his publicist Ebba Lindqvist, they talked about their son’s death:
“Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions,” Bergling’s family said. “An over-achieving perfectionist who traveled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress.”
”When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music. He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.” the open letter continues, before concluding with: ”The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive. We love you”.
Avicii, who battled with health issues, including pancreatitis, retired from touring in 2016 at the height of his career.
