TORONTO (CelebrityAccess) — Donna Murphy, Vice President of operations for the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) announced that after more than 35 years with the organization, she has retired.
Though Murphy is officially announcing her retirement today, she stepped back from her role at the organization as of March 31st, 2018.
“Donna has played such a major role in the development of this organization, and her unwavering commitment to her work and mentoring of others will be sorely missed,” said Stuart Johnston, President, CIMA. “Please join me in thanking Donna Murphy for her outstanding service to CIMA and wishing her all the best for a very happy, well-deserved, retirement.”
Ms. Murphy got her start in the industry at a small indie music company based in Toronto before she joined Earl Rosen & Associates where she worked on behalf of the Canadian Independent Record Production Association (CIRPA), before being hired to work directly for CIMA, which at the time was known as the Canadian Independent Record Production Association (CIRPA).
At CIRPA, she held a number of posts, including stints as Research Director, Database Administrator for the CIRPA/ADISQ Foundation, Manager of the Canadian Music Industry Database, and finally, Vice-President Operations with the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA).
Donna also served as the founding Executive Director of the Songwriters Association of Canada (SAC).
