DES MOINES, Iowa (CelebrityAccess) The 1,500-capacity Simon Estes Riverfront Amphitheatre in Des Moines, Iowa, is expected to shutter next year for bridge construction and will not be available again until 2011.
Construction is expected to start in August and cost $9 million, according to the Des Moines Register. The bridge will replace the downtown Locust Street bridge. No events will take place at the city-managed amphitheatre during construction, according to Ben Page of Des Moines Parks and Recreation.
“There’s not going to be any parking down there, Page told the paper. “(It’d be a) dusty, dirty mess.”
The shed hosts the annual Nitefall on the River concert series. This year’s fare includes Lake Street Drive, Turnpike Troubadours, Arch Allies, and The Nadas.
