AUSTIN, Texas (CelebrityAccess) The Austin, Texas, neighborhood of Hutto has approved $3.4 million to build a 10,000-capacity amphitheater in a city park to hold multiple events, including a country music series.

“Over the years, as Austin’s population has grown and traffic has become an issue, it occurred to us that people aren’t coming into Austin on a regular basis to see live music because the traffic is just so bad,” Austin Radio Network’s Kristina Killingsworth told the American-Statesman. “When we put together KOKEFest last year we said, ‘Let’s take live music out to a smaller community and see if they respond.’”

It is not known if the amphitheater is designed for national touring acts. The shed will seat 4,000 people in a VIP circle and 6,000 people in the outer circle, with shade structures for the VIP level and stage, according to city spokeswoman Eliska Padilla. The city’s Parks and Recreation Board will consider camping at the park, according to the newspaper, and the shed will have RV hookups.

The city is apparently trying to lure “KOKEFest” to the new venue. KOKE-FM is “excited” about the new amphitheatre, Killingsworth reportedly said, and when the first KOKEFest was launched at another location in Hutto last year, people “came in droves.”
